Anti Fascist Pro- Creative See Y’ In There

Well which male  did not fall in love with Debbie Harry in the late 70s, I certainly did, the first time I came across her was with their first single x-offender, I prefered the b side in the flesh.

the band had massive hits in the uk and the world with Denis and touched by your presence dear.

both these tracks come from plastic letters a good album with some excellent tracks!

By 1981 most of the massive hits had dried up but I would recommend you get a Blondie greatest hits package if you don’t have any of their albums , they released some great songs!

this poster is still on my living room wall even now!

Rapture, not the first song to use rap by a white group but close to it released at a similar time to Sandinista by the clash and their opening track on that album was magnificent 7 also a white rapper! joe strummer!

Anyway Blondie were a great band with a gorgeous singer!

thanks go to

@DarrenArsenal1 on twitter for sending me down this road on this particular post!

Grandmaster Flash-The Message

My Deepest Guilt! U2

Ok lets put the record straight here i can not abide U2 or Bono I hate them with a passion! I saw them around the release of their first album boy in 1980 and I thought they were terrible, how they got to be so big is beyond me, to me and some others they stepped into the gap caused by the clash”s demise, they ripped the clash off with some of the stuff they did, in fact Mick jones big audio dynamite supported u2 on at least 1 tour! U2 are not fit to lick Jones”s boots!

But after all this I must admit one of my favourite albums is Achtung baby you can throw the rest of their stuff in the bin for me but this album released in 1991 is a classic to me!

Some great tracks on here

even better then the real thing

whos gona ride your wild horses

so cruel

Acrobat my personal fave on the album

in fact it makes you wonder how they have produced such dross before and after!

Listening to so cruel now makes me realise why i like this album, it reminds me of an ex who dumped me, the lyrics said it all at the time!

We used to play this incessantly in the kitchen I was working in at the time my kitchen had the best sounds in town, along with loads of punk classics, but this album has really stuck in my memory, and as i say nothing before or since that u2 have done has interested me in the slightest!

I’m sure there are a lot of U2 fans out there maybe a few read my blog, I would be interested to get some comments off this, what do people think of u2  most of my friends can’t stand them, I think its bonos fault! in fact I will get it in the neck from haters and admirers!

Albums a classic though no two ways about it im only sorry bono had something to do with it!

Got some achtung baby demos too if anyone is interested!

(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais/The Prisoner

June 1978 when the greatest single by The Clash came out, in fact i would say its my favourite single of all time, its one ive played thousands of times and one I have never tired of in 33 years!

It came out in 4 different coloured sleeves I originally had the green one but now have a pink one too. It was one of joe strummers favourite songs and was played at his funeral.

Backed by the Prisoner which was another wonderful song about London life it was just the perfect single! It was never an album track just a single!

I think it was around this time I saw the clash with the specials and suicide as support! Oh how the clash fans loved suicide!

Midnight to six man
For the first time from Jamaica
Dillinger and Leroy Smart
Delroy Wilson, your cool operator

Ken Boothe for UK pop reggae
With backing bands sound systems
And if they’ve got anything to say
There’s many black ears here to listen

But it was Four Tops all night with encores from stage right
Charging from the bass knives to the treble
But onstage they ain’t got no roots rock rebel
Onstage they ain’t got no…roots rock rebel

Dress back jump back this is a bluebeat attack
‘Cos it won’t get you anywhere
Fooling with your guns
The British Army is waiting out there
An’ it weighs fifteen hundred tons

White youth, black youth
Better find another solution
Why not phone up Robin Hood
And ask him for some wealth distribution

Punk rockers in the UK
They won’t notice anyway
They’re all too busy fighting
For a good place under the lighting

The new groups are not concerned
With what there is to be learned
They got Burton suits, ha you think it’s funny
Turning rebellion into money

All over people changing their votes
Along with their overcoats
If Adolf Hitler flew in today
They’d send a limousine anyway

I’m the all night drug-prowling wolf
Who looks so sick in the sun
I’m the white man in the Palais
Just lookin’ for fun

I’m only
Looking for fun

the prisoner meets the muppet hi-fi
north of watford junction
we get in but we don’t have fun
an’ we leave before the truncheons
so it’s back to watch the day to day
saga of working people
hanging out the washing and clipping coupons
and generally being decent

johnny too bad meets johnny be good
in the charing cross road
that’s the only thing that happened today
says the west end jungle code
and all the germans and all the french
jam themselves down the tube
and re-enact the second world war
while the rude boys get rude!

and i look to my left
and i look to my right
and i’m looking for a man
i’m looking for a sign
i don’t wanna be the prisoner

the prisoner lives in camden town
selling revolution
the prisoner loads his tracking arm up
with self-disillusion
your mother does the washing up
your old man digs the garden
you’re only free to dodge the cops
an’ bunk the train to stardom

Mick Jones (who I have seen in a Burton suit) and joe strummer I salute you for lots but especially this single!
