So after another good start last night we capitulated in the 2nd half, who is giving the half time talks is it Sven? First half good 2nd half not so good.
I don’t know where we go as a club from here other than the championship and possible financial meltdown,to me Avram is not up to the job of motivating the players but saying that the squad is so bad now its laughable!
The squad has been run down like a shop about to close for a few years now and now all that’s left are players on high wages that nobody else really wants.
The olympic stadium will we fill it? I doubt it very much so why go there other than to make sugo money on the sale of Upton park!
The owners seem to have forgotten that we the fans are the club we will always be there no matter who the owners or players are.
So from the excitement of last nights first half to this mornings despair I say West Ham sort it out before it’s too late, find some passion from somewhere even if it’s just for this season, keep us up then move on thank you.
Back to punk rock blogging later, sorry for this digression!
As if you did not know BAD on tour-i like a bit of a cavort!
coming soon The Stone Roses the last great british band.
Blast from the past or totally forgotten,to be honest I forget about them sometimes but I then put their only single on and want to jump around the room! the noise the energy the guitars it all takes me back!
The band was one of the original punk bands from Manchester and played at the famous Roxy club, ”
At The Roxy in London the band played the same two songs over and over. “The audience went absolutely berserk and consequently we were asked to play again and again, because that was what was required.”
They split after the release of their only single and future short-lived members were Morrissey and Billy Duffy!
very rare footage from so it goes I had never seen it before this morning!
There are loads of bands like this from 76/80 all one single wonders but this one is very dear to my heart. In the days before the internet if you bought a record and did not like it you played it to death anyway as you could not afford another one for ages, unlike today where we listen for a few minutes then move on to a new download.
The Nosebleeds-check them out,you don’t get bands like this anymore, mores the pity!
The Skids who remembers them? Not many I guess but one of the best bands I ever saw live if not the best! And I have seen a lot of bands!
Scared to dance is one of THE punk albums the energy the sound just everything about it is just fantastic if you don’t have this album well your missing something!
a woman in winter my personal favourite skids song!
I managed to see the skids several times and even had a kick about with jobson and Adamson outside Bradford uni!
so many great bands around in those days I thought the music would go on forever, but now it’s stopped. I realise now I was lucky to be able to see all these bands im glad I had my youth then and not now.
Stuart Adamson a much underrated guitarist. Hanged himself in 2001 a sad sad loss.
ladies and gentlemen I give you the skids!

And so now we go off on a tangent away from punk and to one of my most loved albums, whenever I hear this it transports me to 1985 when I was with a special someone (sigh) music has the power to be a time machine.
Side 1 (Hounds of Love):
Running Up That Hill
Hounds of Love
The Big Sky
Mother Stands For Comfort
Side 2 (The Ninth Wave)
And Dream of Sheep
Waking The Witch
Watching You Without Me
Jig of Life
The Morning Fog
This is to me one of the greatest albums of the eighties, Kate first came onto my radar with wuthering heights (78) but I was still musically into the whole punk thing, I bought the single and the album the kick inside but did not get into it till much later.(my mum hated wuthering heights! more than she hated punk)
But back to the hounds of love right from the first track running up that hill-side one is an absolute winner all of them great tracks as for the ninth wave (side 2) this is my personal favourite side, the title the ninth wave is taken from a section of poetry by Tennyson the coming of Arthur, listen to this side in the dark its just so atmospheric I totally love this album, i never ever get bored with it,it still brings something new to me every time i play it.
looking back now Kate Bush was as groundbreaking as the punks if not more so then some of them as she really was doing something no-one else was doing at the time, I know john Lydon is a big fan!
Kate unfortunately never tours , she did do one but never since it’s a shame as I would love to catch her live.
it’s rumoured she will be releasing new music this year I for one can’t wait.
the hounds of love add this to your record collection , you wont regret it.
